How bad, this bad…
So I’ve literally been running the worst I ever have playing live poker. If I have a draw, it never gets there, if my opponent does, it comes right on the turn and I’m dead. If I have an over pair, they catch a second pair after calling a pot sized bet with middle pair. I know its just variance, but it’s getting a little silly.
Last night when I got to the room the 2/5 game was full but a 20/40 O8 with 1/2 kill was opening up. I sat in that and to attract more people some of the guys suggested dropping it to a 15/30 with a 1/3rd kill which would up it to 20/40 if a pot was swept. That was fine with me. I bought in for a $1000 and played pretty loose early but missed a couple huge draws. Was down to 1/2 my buy in before getting 1/2 of a few pots and getting about back to even before getting called to the 2/5 game.
The 2/5 game was okay, I missed a lot of flops and kept my stack even by bluffing at pots most the time. Eventually at around 2:30 in the morning the game was getting really short handed and we started mixing up the rules. We started playing seven-deuce bounty and doing a lot of straddling and blind raising. Anything that would encourage action, we were doing it. At my peak in the game I was up maybe $175, but had bled some of that off since I was missing every flop possible.
At the cardroom they pay out straight flush jackpots. Each possible straight flush had it’s own jackpot amount that resets after it gets hit. Currently the highest one is the 8 high straight flush which pays about $2900 if you hit it with both cards playing. The one rule to the straight flushes and the bad beat is that the table must be 4 handed in a qualifiying game. Shortly after we got down to 3 handed, I hit the 8 high straight flush. But because we were 3 handed, no 3k for me. Can I run any worse? Probably not. Back to online tournament grinding for the weekend.
